Black Friday falls on November 27, 2026, and it's one of the busiest car-buying weekends of the year: Edmunds has found that about 15% of November's sales happen that weekend. Dealers will advertise "doorbuster" prices and big discounts. Some are real. Many aren't.

A sale price is only a deal if it beats the same car elsewhere

"$3,000 off" means nothing if the car was priced $3,000 high to begin with. The test is the same as any other day: is the same car (same year, trim, drivetrain, similar miles) for sale nearby for less?

Black Friday tricks to watch for

How to shop Black Friday smart

  1. Pick the car and check prices the week before, so you know the real market.
  2. Get out-the-door quotes by email from two or three dealers.
  3. Show up with a cheaper listing for the same car. That beats any sale banner.
  4. Don't rush. Many dealers run the same deals through the end of the month and into December.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a used car?

It can be. Late fall is a good time for used cars generally, and dealers want to hit monthly and year-end goals. But busy showrooms mean less attention and more pressure. You can often get the same price on a quiet weekday.
