Which Ram 1500 to look for
- 2019 and later (5th generation): Tradesman, Big Horn (Lone Star in Texas), Laramie, Rebel, Longhorn, Limited and, from 2021–2024, the TRX.
- Engines: 3.6 V6 with eTorque, 5.7 HEMI V8, 3.0 EcoDiesel. For 2025 only, the HEMI was replaced by a turbo six; it returned for 2026.
- Big Horn is the most common trim and the easiest to compare.
Where Ram buyers overpay
- Ram 1500 Classic. Ram kept selling the older design as the "Classic" for years alongside the new one. It's a cheaper truck. Make sure you know which one you're looking at, and compare it only with other Classics.
- Crew Cab versus Quad Cab. Crew Cab costs more. Compare the same cab.
- Packages. A Big Horn with the Level 2 package is nicer than a base Big Horn. A window sticker or VIN lookup shows what it has.
- Big wheels and lifts. They rarely add the value a seller asks for.
